| The desert-The desert protected egypt and shielded the egyptions from attack .- but it was at the same time home the nomades who might attack the valley and disturb the life of its inhabitants .- its inhabitants survive only in scattered oases .- while the river supplied the egyptians with their essential requirements for daily food and drink- the desert provided the building materials such as mud stones and precious metal for making the ornaments and monuments.- the materials in the sahara used to date the geological history of this corner of africa.- in the early tertiary period the warm water of the tethys sea covered what it is now egypt after the drawing that cused that the egyptian desert contained several maerials - also the river carries silt and gravel form astretch of low desert between the flood plain and the high desert cliffs .- that allowed the egyptians to produce soft and hard building stones, like nubian sand stone, limestone , aswan granite,stones for statues ,alabaster ,green and black basalt ,diorite,semiprecious stones like turquoise from sinai ,lapislazuli, rockcrystal ,copper and gold.  | |
